Seeds or sprouts?

beansWe purchased some bean plants (approx 2″ tall) to ensure that the grew well and were already strong.  We were very mistaken.  The bean plants had major issues and were just not growing well and looking very unhealthy.  After doing some research on the Internet we found that there are certain plants that are hyper sensitive to being transplanted.  We took the bean plants out and planted the same type of bean plant, but just the seeds.  Within two weeks not only did the bean plants sprout, but they were growing at a rate much faster than the ones we bought that were already grown.

My advice, do the research to see how sensitive a plant is to transplanting before going that route.

Some plants that were very strong after transplanting:

  • Artichoke
  • Broccoli
  • Tomato
  • Corn
  • Onion

There are probably a lot more, but this is what we have grown so far 🙂
